Miranda
She managed to get to work a little earlier than usual, giving her an extra few minutes to grab a coffee quickly before heading into the restaurant. It had been a long night the night before, her mind wandering back to places she wished it would stay out of. She refused to let this break up affect her, and she fought tooth and nail to ignore the hurt, but in the dead of the night it crept up on her. She may be a strong woman, but she still had feelings. She had been so sure that Mark, her ex, was the one, hence why she made the big move out here, but boy had she ever been wrong. Now here she was, waitressing in Tomball, Texas, a town where she knew pretty well no one at all trying to make money to move back home.
She sipped her coffee and pushed open the doors to the little ma and pa restaurant that she worked in, a popular little place that was well known for its burgers and catfish dishes. It was the very first place she had applied, simply because it had reminded her of the first place she had ever worked at back home and that felt good to have something familiar. She wasn't used to being all alone, not knowing anyone, she was such a social butterfly that this felt awkward to her, and she didn't like it one bit. She needed to be around people, around friends. Hopefully, she could make some here soon its not like she wasn't good at it but she literally knew no one here, and that kind of made it hard.
"Hey y'all! I'm here, and even early this time too!" she chuckled and walked over to flip on the open sign and grab her chalkboards for the specials. She hummed as she walked to the waitress station and found the chalk. She wrote out the daily specials and went back to the kitchen to say hello to Mel, the cook and owner of the restaurant, but before she could say a word she got her first customer of the day so she simply waved at Mel and walked out front, letting the customer know they could seat them selves and that she would be with them in a moment.

After a night of debauchery with his friends, and a few hits of his friends' blunt, he found himself realizing that he completely missed breakfast. He'd groaned and rolled over in his bed, fussing with his bed head for a moment before dropping his feet to the floor. What time was it? He looked at the clock and saw that it was well after eleven in the morning, meaning that his dad had probably left for work and he missed a potentially delicious breakfast of eggs and bacon. He groaned again. It always sucked to miss a good breakfast.
Knowing just where to satisfy his growling stomach, Wyatt threw on his jeans and t-shirt and left for his favorite little restaurant. It wasn't big or fancy but they had his favorite burgers and he could do with one of those right about then. It was about time for them to open--yes, he knew the schedule rather well by this point--and made a quick jaunt down the street.
Upon entering, he saw that it was quiet, only an unfamiliar girl telling him he could sit wherever he wanted. "Will do," he obliged, wandering to an empty booth and plopping down on the cushion with a sigh. He slept harder than he thought, for he had a good amount of energy despite being up late. When she approached the table he gave her a grin. "So," he said, placing his elbows on the table. "I was gonna say 'the usual' but I have a sinking feeling that you don't know it." Wyatt looked curious. "When did you start working here?" It had been some time since he visited the place, possibly a few weeks, but it could've been that she simply wasn't around when he came to eat there. Whatever the case, she was a new face to him.

Miranda
She never really looked at her customer before, but now she seen in was a young man who looked a little rough, she chuckled at the memory of waking up the same way and suddenly missed home just a little more. She took him a menu and smiled warmly as she always did, this was almost the only time she really got to socialize these days so she really enjoyed it. She was used to the night shifts here and wondered if the mornings were usually this quiet, she enjoyed it when it was busy, it was packed with all sorts of great people and she met so many interesting ones. That is a huge reason she was still a waitress, she loved meeting new people. She had met so many amazing ones back home at the restaurant there too, people traveling around, just moving to town like herself, it was great to hear some of the stories some people had! Her usually perky attitude helped too, though lately it seemed less perky and more mopey, she did her best at work to keep smiling.
The boy obviously came here often, mentioning he had a 'usual', "Sorry hunny, I would have no idea what you were talking about as for 'the usual'" she chuckled, she loved the regulars in a restaurant "But how about you fill me and we can get it right up for ya? I'll do my best to remember it too, for the next time you're in" She grabbed her pen and her small pad of paper to take his order. "I just started here last week, I was doing the night shifts but they needed me to fill in for today so here I am" she held her hands out and did a small curtsy. "Oh, and my name is Miranda, by the way" she nodded and smiled at him "Can I get you a drink to start as well?" she asked, pen poised over her paper. She flipped her blonde hair out of her face, she should have put it up, silly woman, this would be an all day battle now.

he gave her a nod as he took the menu, not quite needing it since it seemed he knew the specials like the back of his hand. the day he needed a menu for this place would be the sky turned purple. then again, changing up his 'usual' might be fun at some point, but today he craved what he normally ate when he came here. wyatt looked mischievous. "it might be super complicated so don't freak out," he put his hands up and waved them around, being dramatic as usual. "but i want a cheeseburger with ketchup, lettuce, and pickles, with a side of fries." it was not hard to remember, but the boy wanted to make it seem that way. he gave her a smile.
"makes sense. the vampire population around here is getting smaller so they don't need as many people at night. but you get to serve me, so there's a plus!" that smile was unwavering and boyish as it always was, trying to look innocent so that when he got himself into trouble the last person they suspected was wyatt daubney. it saved him many times. "nice to meet ya. i'm wyatt. and wyatt would love to have a coke with no ice." he handed the menu back to her so she could put it back at the hostess stand for other customers who might actually need it.

Miranda How am I supposed to be old and wise, if I ain't ever young and crazy? <3 Miranda smirked at his mischievous look and chewed on the end of her pen, it was a terrible habit she just couldn't quit. She was always catching hell for it from the other staff but it didn't stop her, she rarely even realized she was doing it. she laughed and jotted down his order "Well I think I could remember that she smiled at his care-free and fun attitude, he seemed like someone she could get along with easily and she was in need of some friends. She laughed again at his vampire joke "Yeah it has been a little slow on nights, that must be why..not really a loss though, they can be quite the fun-suckers." she shook her head at her awful joke "Well, lucky me then, Miranda will get Wyatt a coke with no ice right away" she laughed and grabbed the menu to return it to the waitress station.
She fussed with her hair again and swore at it under her breath, then handed the order to the kitchen and grabbed Wyatt his coke. "Your coke" she set it down in front of him, "Have a rough night last night?' she asked, grinning and placing her hand on her hip and shifting her weight to her left. "I sure could use a good night out, but since I'm new and all I really don't know where to go..any suggestions?" she gave him a sideways smirk. She really hadn't even had the chance to explore much yet between finding a place, which was the hotel for now, and work she was kept pretty busy. |

simple enough of an order to be sure, but could she actually remember it? There were a lot of people flitting to and from this place and the other waitresses tended to take several attempts before getting his usual logged into memory. if she did, of course, that meant extra tip from wyatt. he liked when people took the time to remember little things like that. at her joke he let out a snort and laughed, leaning his head back against the seat. "i like you," he said, nodding to cement his approval. "i'll be sure to protest if you ever lose your job here. set fireworks off in the lobby and all that." unfortunately he was the sort to do such a thing, but probably not in a restaurant. that could surely get him arrested.
"thanks, beautiful." he watched as she walked away and took to leaning on his elbows, letting out a sigh as he enjoyed the environment. it was a bit too quiet for his liking but there was nothing to be done about that. a few more customers walked in and sat on the other side of the room. upon seeing her return with his drink, he sat up and took the glass from her hands, downing a few gulps before setting it on the table. "my complements to the drink dispenser. just the right amount of carbonated water and syrup." he loved coke. pepsi was okay but he preferred its coke counterpart. caught up in another swig of soda, he paused before answering with a chuckle. "you could say that," wyatt tried to fix his hair but by that point the bed head was going to be a permanent addition to his overall bum look. "stayed out with friends a bit too late. but so worth it, like always." any time spent with friends was time well spent.
wyatt perked up at the question, placing his palms on the table. "plenty of suggestions! you can always tag along with me on some nights if you want, when you aren't working. we get into some crazy shit sometimes but you couldn't ask for better people to be around." some weren't nearly as daring, others tagged along for the ride, like his best friend tyler. they always found fun wherever they went. "what sorts of things do you like to do?"
`ooc notes; no problem!
